Business Development Board Member 

The role:

Outer Space is looking for a new board member who has an interest in the arts and experience in business development and fundraising. This role will assist Outer Space to further its growth into a self-sustainable contemporary arts organisation through the development of strategic financial partnerships and funding opportunities.


The responsibilities would include:

  • Implementing a business development and fundraising strategy

  • Sourcing and maintaining diverse income streams to support Outer Space’s programs 

  • Working with committee members to build and foster relationships with commercial and non-commercial sponsors

  • Working with committee members to identify and prepare funding applications

  • Working with Outer Space manager and committee to plan and implement fundraising events


It is strongly preferred that the successful applicant is able to commit to two years with the organisation as part of the Board leadership.

Outer Space is a not-for-profit contemporary arts organisation. We collaborate with artists and art workers to develop, make, and present critically engaged creative practice in a supportive professional environment. Our exhibitions, events and programs welcome those involved in, and curious about, the arts. Outer Space is committed to fostering a sustainable creative community in Brisbane that engages local, regional, national and global contexts. 


Outer Space is based in Brisbane but the successful applicant need not be.
